Challenge
The AgCareers Food & Agriculture Career Guide is a yearly publication for students aimed at facilitating connections with career education resources and leading agriculture and food employers. The challenge was to lead a team of designers to create an eye-catching design that conveys the diversity of the industry and visually aids the ultimate goal of providing job seekers with career advice.
Solution
The 2024/2025 cover of the guide uses a grid-blocked layout to resemble an aerial shot of a field, and incorporates bold pops of the brand colours to draw the viewers in. These elements would be used throughout the publication as a unifying factor, as seen in the table of contents and throughout the footer of the guide. Diverse imagery was chosen to avoid stereotypes and convey the breadth of opportunities in the food and agriculture industry.
Contributions to the project included leading the design direction, front cover design, table of contents design, article layouts, internal and external advertisement design and advising co-op students on article layouts. Once approved, the files were sent to the production team to insert client advertisements and finalize for print.
